Friday 25th June 2010 - 9.30am to 4.00pm
Venue: West Midlands Police Service HQ, Lloyd House, Colmore Circus, Queensway, B4 6NQ
The Equality Act, which comes into play in October, is an opportunity for organisations of all sizes to refocus efforts and resources to achieve meaningful outcomes and deliver equal life chances for all men, women and children in the UK. The new concept of 'Protected (Equality) Characteristics' is an important development, which will influence future impact assessments.
Positive Action - as set out in the Equality Act - is a great (and legal) opportunity to ensure that organisations reflect the community and employees they serve at all levels. With confirmed attendance from chief executives to first tier managers across the public sector from City Council officials, NHS managers, ACAS, Police and polish Ex-Pats, Marshall ACM, leading provider of managed e-learning services, is helping businesses to prepare and learn best practices to prepare for the new law.
The concept and application of the new 'Protected Characteristics' will be explored; specifically how they apply to effective equality impact assessments.
Vernal Scott, Senior Principal comments, “This event offers an opportunity for businesses to share good practice and hear how colleagues are shaping up for the changes. Expert advisers will present on how to achieve equality and inclusion outcomes in the context of cuts and reduced budgets”.
